I had never heard of the term “McGuffin” but it very well really describes our present day political dynamics. I was at the gym this morning and fox channel was on- they were slamming senator Van Hollen’s visit to ElSalvadore. Their distortion of facts is beyond belief. I long hope for the day they are totally discredited.

We must be fearless in our pursuit of truth and repercussions for those who have lied, stolen and betrayed our democracy.

Yes, It’s up to us. Who is ready to design a great democracy? Our people’s divisions will vanish like dew in morning sun if we have a shared vision. If you are done with complaints and ready to create, take my hand for I see the path to justice but cannot walk it without you.

This is what I've been trying to explain to our senators, Kaine and Warner. We don't want democrats that coddle corporations and the wealthy in order to get that damnable donation. They have become so rich and distant from their constituents that we're just a number and not individuals. Otherwise all of the shrinking middle class and all poor people will become a crop of laborers to be used and abused.

That’s right! This nation has been sick for a long time, we won’t go back to how it was before. We will rise to a new and better world.

I have this reasuring feeling from time to time. Since we have precedents like this in history, there is a reason to feel optimistic about American resiance. Another positive trait in America is that our polarity is so strong it doesn't allow either extreeme to scape gravity, and it's always in check.

The catalyst for our awakening was 25 years ago!

What catalyst was that?

The Supreme Court, a coequal branch of government, separating the powers, usurped its authority by intervening in a legislative branch issue and violated the Constitution by essentially appointing a president. It was at that moment I knew democracy was ending and we had 20-25 years left. And here we are. If we had understood that and protested in massive numbers, it might have ended the “soft coup”, but we didn’t.

Our body politic is old, bloated and lazy. It’s time for new blood, new energy and a shock to the system that wakes Americans up. What will it take?

True that!! I see so many organizations caving to the fascist regime of “47”. BTW we need to stop using his name. It’s not just a name, it’s a brand and every time we use his name it reinforces his brand. If we can reduce him to a number, it undercuts his power. But, like you, I don’t know what it will take!☹️

“Do we respond with handwringing and pearl-clutching?

Or do we build the democracy we were promised—but never delivered?”

The latter—let’s do it together. I have a plumb bob and chalk line. What can you bring to our labor?

Gosh, I do hope you’re right. But Trump may also be the red herring; the useful stooge Putin is manipulating for even more nefarious reasons we dare not think about. Like Russian world domination. Why else is Greenland, Canada, and Panama even on Trump’s agenda? I would like to be an optimist, but pragmatism is more my nature. If it’s true Trump has been a Russian asset since 1987, then I suspect Putin is going to expect a lot more from his Manchurian Candidate. And if Trump won’t deliver, Vance will. So, before we can even think about a better democracy, we first have to rid our government of all the traitors. And that will be no small feat.

Thank you—that really means a lot. There’s so much noise out there, and I try hard to make The American Pamphleteer something that cuts through and speaks plainly. I’m so glad it resonates with you.
